No hail this time, and picture day moves
No hail this time: U10 Boys beat Maple Ridge
The spring rematch went the U10 Boys' way, 2-0, and the weather held.
Leo scored early. Marcus got his first goal of the fall on Sam's cross. Owen wore the captain's armband.
U13 Boys hit the post twice in a 1-0 loss
One second-half goal from Cedar Falls FC decided it. The U13 Boys hit the post twice, Eli first and then Mateo in the last minute.
Ben kept it close in goal with a string of saves.
Coach Rich told the team they deserved a point and to keep shooting.
A corner they never practiced
The U9 Girls drew 1-1 at Elm Grove SC. Harper headed in a first-half corner from Lily, and Elm Grove tied it after the break.
The team has never practiced a corner. Lily put it in, Harper closed her eyes, and it went in.

Coach Jen Okafor
U9 Girls head coach, first season
Q: First season with the U9s. How is it going? A: Loud. In the best way. They cheer for everything, including throw-ins. Q: What did you see at Elm Grove? A: Lily taking a corner for the first time and putting it on Harper's head. They had never practiced it. I am not sure I should tell them that. Q: What are you teaching right now? A: Where to stand when the ball is not near you. That is the whole curriculum at U9. Q: What do you tell them before a game? A: Nothing about winning. I ask who brought the orange slices.
“They cheer for everything, including throw-ins.”
Fall picture day moves to Saturday, October 3
